The Talk Of The Town - historic hotel wrapped for Aldeburgh Carnival 2018

The owner of a historic building in Aldeburgh High Street, once the site of the East Suffolk Hotel, provided the Alde & Ore Estuary Trust with a wonderful opportunity to promote their work throughout Aldeburgh Carnival 2018. We were delighted to manage this PR and fundraising initiative for our client by wrapping the prominent building in attention-grabbing posters.

As the Save Our Suffolk Estuary campaign continues to gather momentum, we were involved in this creative project to highlight the flood risk Aldeburgh faces and the important fundraising work of the Trust. The aim of the proposed upgrade work is to enable the estuary defences to withstand a 1-in-200 year tidal surge and minimise the chance of a repeat of the 1953 flood scenes, which devastated the area.

We created the impactful building wrap working alongside innovative Suffolk-based printers Handsome Prints, depicting the Aldeburgh High Street flood of 1953 and Snape in 2013, together with an artist's impression of what the High Street could look like if it flooded again. The 'stop you in your tracks' appearance of the building was described as "the talk of the town" with local residents applauding the Trust for giving oxygen to such an important cause.

It is estimated that £12million is needed for upgrading the river defences throughout the Alde & Ore Estuary and £5million of that has to be raised through voluntary donations from the local community, applications to charitable foundations and the support received from local businesses.
